This journey combines lesser-known & better-known destinations of Kumaon and captures the best of what this region has to offer a Himalayan traveler.

    RAMNAGAR RLY STN - CORBETT 36 km / 45 mins

    Day 1: RAMNAGAR RLY STN - CORBETT 36 km / 45 mins

    Reach Ramnagar in the morning or mid- morning by train. Drive to a jungle retreat in the peripheral forests of Jim Corbett National Park. Freshen up and later go for an afternoon safari or the early evening Elephant Back Safari.

    Day 2: CORBETT

    Enjoy an Elephant Back Safari and a Jeep Safari In the first half. Later you could for a walk in the jungle or go bird watching. Evening at leisure in the retreat.

    CORBETT - BINSAR (2400 M) 155 km / 4 ½ hrs

    Leave after breakfast to reach Binsar by afternoon. Check into your rooms in a retreat located right within the sanctuary. Night stay in the cottage.

    Day 4: BINSAR

    Early morning do a short drive towards Zero Point, walk the last 2 kms to the point - leave very so that you can reach the point just before sunrise. Enjoy magnificent Himalayan views and be back at the retreat for breakfast. Freshen up and do an easy walk to Dalad where we have lunch in a local village home, hike back to your retreat. Rest a while and around 1700 hrs you could go on another hike to the ridge for spectacular views at sundown.

    Day 5: BINSAR - MUNSIYARI (2300 M) 238 km / 8 HRS

    Leave after an early breakfast and head off on a long but picturesque drive to reach Munsiyari in the evening. Settle in to your home stay In Sarmoli Village. This region, known as Johar Valley, is exquisitely beautiful and still pristine. The region is home to exotic birds like Monal, Snow Cock, Snow Partridge, Himalayan Vultures, Serpent and Golden eagles. You can enjoy grand views of the Panchchuli Range and snow clad peaks like Hansling, Rajarambha and Chiplakot.

    MUNSIYARI - Sarmoli Village Walk

    Day 6: MUNSIYARI - Sarmoli Village Walk

    After breakfast set off on a guided tour of this village and observe the fascinating human geography of changing architectural styles, human-nature interaction and management of the forest commons. If interested in the local wool craft, visit families that have a working loom in their homes. Lunch at the picturesque Mesar Kund, a sacred pool nestled in the Forest Commons. Enjoy the rest of the day in the picturesque surroundings of the village. You could also visit a Tribal Heritage Museum. Evening at leisure.

    MUNSIYARI - JHALTOLA (2200 M) 115 kms / 5 hrs

    Day 7: MUNSIYARI - JHALTOLA (2200 M) 115 kms / 5 hrs

    Leave after breakfast and drive to Jhaltola. Check into your retreat and have a latish but hot lunch Rest of the day at leisure to savour the pristine natural beauty & amazing views of the Himalayas. Evening would be spent beside a roaring campfire, listening to jungle sounds & enjoying the lively company of the charming couple who are also your hosts here.

    JHALTOLA - hike to Lamkeshwar

    Day 8: JHALTOLA - hike to Lamkeshwar

    After breakfast, leave with a guide on this soft trek of about 2½ hrs totally to Lamkeshwar - an old temple dedicated to Lord Shiva atop a mountain. It also offers fabulous 360 degree views and on a clear day one can spend the entire day taking pictures and still not be satiated. Have a picnic lunch in the forest and walk back to reach the retreat by late afternoon/ early evening.

    Day 9: JHALTOLA - SONAPANI (1800 M) 115 km / 5 hrs

    Drive to Sonapani after breakfast. Check into your rooms in a retreat. Rest of the day at leisure, evening around a bonfire. Sonapani is a tiny hamlet flanked by Pine, Oak and Rhododendron forests, dotted with orchards of apricot, apple, plum and peach. It offers unforgettable views of Himalayan peaks.

    SONAPANI – hike to Mukteshwar

    Day 10: SONAPANI – hike to Mukteshwar

    This is a day hike that takes you through a reserve forest area to the quaint British-era town of Mukteshwar. The walk is about eight kms long and takes three to five hours depending on fitness levels and the number of photographs you click en-route. In Mukteshwar one can visit the PWD guesthouse that offers an expansive view of the Himalayas and the valleys below. It was a favourite spot of the legendary Jim Corbett. There is an old Shiva temple close by. Drive back to your retreat and enjoy the evening by a bonfire.

    Day 11: SONAPANI – KASTHGODAM RLY STN 75 km / 2 ½ hrs

    Leave after an early breakfast for Kathgodam railway station to take the afternoon/ night train back to Delhi.
