Nestled amid apple and pear orchards with the Beas flowing below, Roots Café and Stay Bandrol is located just 600 metres off the Kullu-Manali highway. The present orchard is the labour of love of Mr Balak Ram Thakur, who bought it from the descendants of a British family which settled here in 1860’s. Run by the team that is behind the popular Roots Café in Gurugram and Café Lota in Delhi, the café in Bandrol offers a selection of regional cuisine from across the country in a picturesque bistro setting. The stay is comfortable with five modern and tastefully furnished sun-lit rooms, offering stunning views of the high Himalayas. There are numerous local hikes, walks and excursions around to soak in the culture and beauty of the region. You can also choose to stay in and unwind, curling up in the cosy attic with a book from the in-house library or play a board game.
