    GUWAHATI

    Day 1: GUWAHATI

    Reach Guwahati Airport around noon. Get transferred to your hotel. Evening is reserved for a Sunset / Sundown / Dinner cruise on the Brahmaputra River. Depending on the time you arrive here and which cruise you’d like to go for, it might be possible to do some sightseeing in the middle: Kamakhya Temple / Shankar Dev Kalakshetra.

    Day 2: GUWAHATI - CHERRAPUNJEE 185 kms / 5 hrs

    Check out post-breakfast and drive to reach Cherrapunjee by late afternoon. Evening at leisure.

    Early morning leave on a half day trek through some exquisitely lush landscape and see the mesmerizing Living Roots Double Decker Bridge ( 10 km drive + hike down about 3000 steps & back up the same – totally about 5 - 6 hrs). Be back at your hotel for a hot lunch. Second half visit Nohkalikai Falls and Nohsngithiang Falls or go for caving to the Arwah Lumshynna Cave.

    CHERRAPUNJEE - Mawlynnong 81 km / 2.5 hrs – Dawki 35 km / 1 hr – SHILLONG 80 km / 2.5 hrs

    Day 4: CHERRAPUNJEE - Mawlynnong 81 km / 2.5 hrs – Dawki 35 km / 1 hr – SHILLONG 80 km / 2.5 hrs

    Check out post breakfast and drive to Mawlynnong Village. Recognized as the cleanest village in Asia, this is also a very cute, picturesque & colorful little village. We will also see the Living Root Bridge at the nearby Riwai Village. Then we drive to Dawki on the border with Bangladesh for a look at the Dawki river with greenish-bluish water so clear that one can see the bottom of the river even from as high as the bridge over the river. This place is very scenic and a must see, a boat ride on the river is also very nice. Later we drive to reach Shillong by evening.

    Day 5: Explore SHILLONG

    Today post breakfast we explore this region that is also called The Scotland of India: visit Shillong Peak – for amazing views; Elephant Falls and the nearby Wei Iaplam Falls & Wir Phang Falls; DBCIC Museum - Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures is an Institution for promoting and preserving the rich cultural heritage of North East India, a unique fusion of all the sister states under one roof; Ward’s Lake- this is a horseshoe-shaped artificial lake that abounds in fish. It has a charming winding walkway in the midst of rolling flowerbeds with gradually undulating grounds, hemmed in by lush greens. Evening can be spent strolling around in the vibrant downtown market of Police Bazaar.

    Day 6: SHILLONG – KAZIRANGA 265 kms / 7 hrs

    Check out post breakfast and drive to the beautiful wildernesses of Kaziranga National Park. En route just after Shillong town stop at the grand Umiam Lake. Evening at leisure in your resort.

    Day 7: Explore KAZIRANGA

    Enjoy an early morning Elephant Safari. Post breakfast enjoy a Jeep Safari. Later in the afternoon - post lunch, do another Jeep Safari inside the park.

    Day 8: KAZIRANGA – KOHIMA 215 km / 6 hrs

    Post breakfast set off for Nagaland. Reach Kohima by early evening. After checking into your hotel & freshening up stroll around in the main market area.

    Day 9: Explore KOHIMA

    Post breakfast we leave for seeing the sights that Kohima has to offer. We will see the WW II cemetery, the KIsama Heritage Village and the breathtakingly beautiful Khonoma Village. Needless to say you will also get a good look at the incredible tribal culture of Nagaland. Please note: the Hornbill Festival is celebrated each year from 1- 10 Dec; it is fantastic time to see every facet of the vibrant & colourful tribal culture of this area in its complete glory. If visiting at this time then you must add at least another day to your stay here to do justice to the treats on offer.

    Kohima – Jorhat 196 kms / 5 ½ hrs

    Day 10: Kohima – Jorhat 196 kms / 5 ½ hrs

    Leave after a leisurely breakfast and drive back into Assam, reach Jorhat by evening. Overnight stay in a Heritage Tea Bungalow.

    JORHAT – excursion to Majuli 15 km / 30 min drive + 1 hr ferry ride each way

    Today post breakfast drive to Neematighat and board a ferry boat to Majuli - the largest inhabited river island in the world and famous for its Vaishnavite Satras or monasteries and its tribal culture. It is nestled between the confluence of the Subansiri and the Brahmaputra River. Visit the monasteries and interact with the tribes on the island. Later in the afternoon ferry back to the mainland and drive back to be in Jorhat by evening.

    JORHAT – Sivasagar 60 km / 1 ½ hrs – DIBRUGARH 80 km / 2 hrs

    Day 12: JORHAT – Sivasagar 60 km / 1 ½ hrs – DIBRUGARH 80 km / 2 hrs

    Today post breakfast we drive to Dibrugarh. En route visit Dhekiakhowa Bornaamghor at Teok and the monuments and temples at Sivasagar that encompass the 600 year old history of the Ahom Dynasty. Later continue your drive and reach Dibrugarh where you will stay in a Heritage Chang Bungalow.

    DIBRUGARH – Namphake 60 km / 1 hr 45 mins – Digboi 50 kms / 1 ½ hrs – DIBRUGARH 87 km / 2 ½ hrs

    Day 13: DIBRUGARH – Namphake 60 km / 1 hr 45 mins – Digboi 50 kms / 1 ½ hrs – DIBRUGARH 87 km / 2 ½ hrs

    Today morning take a Tea Walk in the nearby tea plantations. Post breakfast drive to Namphake - a beautiful ‘Tai’ village situated on the banks of the river Buridihing in Upper Assam. The Tai-Phakes are Buddhists, who have maintained their traditions and customs, and wear hand woven clothes. At Namphake one can see traditional houses built on stilts made of bamboo. Their roofs are made of ‘tokou pata’ (fan palm leaves). They weave beautiful mekhlas and bags of various designs. Then move on to Digboi, the first oil town of South Asia. See the Oil Museum, the 2nd WW cemetery & the Centenary Park. Be back in Dibrugarh by late evening.

    Post breakfast get transferred to the airport in time to board your return flight.
